My220x Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 What is the best site to learn php and mysql?
Gerry Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Small PHP/MySQL Tutorial: http://www.freewebmasterhelp.com/tutorials/phpmysql/1 Lots and lots of help here: http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp/
craiglay Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Also there's a load of help with the help files bundled with PHP and MySQL
Ryan Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I learned using a couple of books. Full of examples and real world projects. Welling and Thomson one SAMS Teach Yourself one The top one is light years better imo though. Online references: Can do no worse than the official sites php.net and mysql.com/. Both are searchable (top right) and info is straight from the horses mouth. The discussions on php.net per function are really interesting too.
Diello Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Take a look here - a great resource: http://hudzilla.org/phpwiki/index.php?title=Main_Page
trickstar Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Google it first, best way is to have a project. How about setup a helpdesk?? Liberum is free? Just reading through threads doesn't always stick, if you have a goal - then hopefully your keep working at your project until you achieve your goal! I've always found practical experience is the way to learn for me, reading books just isn't enoguh!
TornUp Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 if your anything like me(unable to read full through a book) i highly recommend this: http://www.phpvideotutorials.com/ he has allot of free tutorials and if you was to buy his others, they look quite apearling! tell me what you think. i like it(although he does rabbit on somtimes hehe) 2

They seem really good! The examples are all really well chosen and it's much nicer being able to sit and watch it than having to read through a book and try and run through the examples yourself at the same time.

One thing I couldn't see on the site is do you get to download the pay-to-view lessons if you buy them or do you still have to view them directly on the site?
